In a very surprising turn of events, the scheduled motion of no confidence against Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille has been scrapped by the DA. Yes, somehow, De Lille and the DA have managed to reach some sort of agreement.
Patricia De Lille vs the DA: A potentially monumental agreement?
With the Cape Town Council set to meet on Thursday, two motions of no confidence had been scheduled on the agenda. The first, a motion brought by the ANC against the speaker. The second, another motion brought by the DA to remove De Lille.
With the DA having tried and failed to remove De Lille with a motion on two prior occasions, the public was sceptical over whether the party had the numbers to get it right this time.
News broke in the early morning that De Lille and the DA Federal Executive had been locked in meetings on Wednesday night as they tried to reach some sort of agreement.
