The MEC of the Western Cape’s department of human settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela, has lifted the lid on something he calls corruption at the Beaufort West municipality.
Two years ago, it is alleged that the municipality, under the leadership of mayor Truman Prince, received a budget boost equalling R1.9-million.
The funds were for the building of internal toilets for housing structures in the area.
Madikizela alleged that a further R400 000 was injected into the project, to oversee the entire process of building and installing 100 toilets.
However, as reported by EWN, to the shock of the human settlements’ MEC, the municipality had allegedly ran through R2-million with only 21 toilets built.
